On October 8, 2026, SEXTECHGUIDE reported that Berlin's SX Festival and Expo, the event that began in 2019 as the SxTech EU sextech conference, will not run in 2027 and has no plans to continue after that. Founder Ola Miedzynska said she is "stepping down from leading and organising" the event. "I cannot confirm that this is its permanent end, but for today there are currently no plans for it to continue," she told the publication. "There will be no further editions of the event under my leadership, and due to this… sadly, no event will take place in 2027."
Why It Matters
Sextech has always had very few events of its own. CES has only partly let the category back in, and most of the B2B calendar (ANME, eroFame, Venus Berlin, XBIZ) is built around trade buying and the adult-content business, not startups and product innovation. SxTech EU was one of the few places in Europe where founders, researchers and investors met to pitch and hack rather than sell into distribution. With it gone, the category loses a meeting point at the very moment that funding, payments and age verification are most contested. There's also a lesson for anyone building an industry event. SxTech grew from a one-day conference into a weekend festival and expo. Its own trade-press reviewer says the technology focus was lost along the way, and its founder says she ran up against her limits after two years of "relentless pressure" and "strained partnerships." The demand for a dedicated European sextech forum hasn't gone away, so expect someone else to try to fill the gap. SEXTECHGUIDE points to Venus Berlin, which has already set October 2026 dates and keeps growing, but notes that a big trade fair is "a very different proposition" from an event built around startup pitches and hackathons. In an earlier LinkedIn post quoted by SEXTECHGUIDE, Miedzynska described a business that had been expanding: "We secured industry investors, built a remarkable team and planned an ambitious expansion. Together, we set out to create a modern, global business network for next generations of adult tech." She also described the cost: "after 2 years of relentless pressure, strained partnerships and thousands of hours worked without a break, I had crossed my own limits." She said this is not her goodbye to the industry and that she will keep working in the adult space.
The event's history tracks how sextech itself has changed. The 2019 SxTech conference featured WOW Tech Group speakers and ended with a hackathon. The 2020 edition, held online, brought sextech and femtech together, and the 2021 edition partnered with Poland's Wolves Summit startup event. Its most recent edition, in June 2026 and the first under the SX Festival and Expo name, had become a broader adult-culture weekend. Its site advertised Stripchat and LoyalFans as sponsors, an age-verification vendor in the expo hall, and festival passes from €45. Talks covered online sex work, age verification, AI censorship and payment processing. SEXTECHGUIDE's reviewer said the rebrand "brought more diverse crowds… but none of the technology or innovations that inspired SxTech EU's inception."
