On September 21, 2026, DoorDash announced it is bringing the sexual wellness category onto its Canadian marketplace for the first time, with two long-established Canadian adult retailers as launch partners: Love Shop, which has operated across Ontario for more than 25 years, and Stag Shop, which DoorDash describes as one of Canada's first adult retailers with more than half a century of trading. Shoppers in Ontario can now order condoms, lubricants, sex toys, lingerie and related items from more than 50 Love Shop and Stag Shop locations through the app.

Why It Matters

Speed is the competitive variable nobody in this category has had. Sexual wellness e-commerce has spent two decades optimizing discretion at the cost of immediacy: order online, wait two to five days, receive a plain brown box. A 30-to-60-minute delivery window with unmarked packaging and no hand-off collapses that trade-off and unlocks purchase occasions that DTC shipping structurally cannot serve. It also converts brick-and-mortar adult retail's biggest liability — physical stores with fixed local footprints — into a fulfillment asset, which is a meaningful lifeline for independent chains squeezed by online competition. For brands, this creates a new wholesale channel with different economics from either DTC or mass retail: no slotting fees, no assortment negotiation with a beauty buyer, but also no control over which SKUs a local store happens to stock. For the broader industry, it is another data point in the mainstreaming trend that has already put Maude into Target and Ulta and Lemme Purr into Walmart — but through logistics infrastructure rather than a shelf. The open questions are whether DoorDash extends the category beyond Ontario and beyond Canada, how age verification is handled at the point of delivery when nobody hands over the package, and whether the payment-processing arrangements that govern DoorDash's marketplace hold up as the category scales.

The operational details are the substance of the story. Orders arrive in plain, unmarked packaging with contactless delivery — DoorDash specifies that Dashers do not hand orders to consumers — which is a deliberate answer to the discretion problem that has always shaped how intimate products get sold. Same-day delivery is the new capability. "Partnering with DoorDash lets us offer same-day delivery, which is a new option in this category and changes the way people can shop for sexual wellness products," said Merina Page, Data Specialist and Wholesale Account Manager at Love Shop, adding that it makes sexual wellness "more accessible to people who may not feel comfortable shopping in-store." Stag Shop's Director of Marketing, Sarah Goertzen, framed it as meeting existing customers where they already shop.

To seed demand, DoorDash is running a launch promotion of 40% off orders of CAD $85 or more (capped at $40 off) at either retailer from September 21 through October 4, 2026, with separate promo codes per merchant. The company positioned the move as part of its broader push beyond restaurant delivery into "the everyday (and not-so-everyday) things people need" — the same expansion logic behind its grocery, convenience and retail partnerships.

What makes this notable is the distribution channel rather than the product. Adult retail's two structural constraints have always been advertising access and shelf access. Mainstream marketplaces have historically kept the category at arm's length: Amazon gates it, social platforms restrict its ads, and payment intermediaries treat it as elevated risk. A major on-demand delivery platform building a named, front-of-house sexual wellness category — with promotional support and its own press announcement — is a different posture from quietly tolerating listings.
