From October 8 to 11, 2026, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) is holding its 27th Annual Fall Scientific Meeting in Orlando. It is the main yearly scientific gathering for U.S. men's sexual medicine, and this year two small-to-mid-cap drug companies are using it to showcase their pipelines. The meeting can't be followed remotely, so most of what's public comes from the companies themselves. The descriptions below come from company announcements, not peer-reviewed results.
Why It Matters
The two companies represent two ways out of the commoditised PDE5 market. Dicot wants a *durable* effect: one course of treatment working for weeks instead of a pill per encounter. If that holds up in a properly powered Phase 2b, it would change how ED is treated, and the telehealth subscription model built on monthly sildenafil and tadalafil refills would have to adjust. The evidence so far is a Phase 2a readout and conference abstracts. Dicot says its business model depends on industrial or financial partners, and its falling share price suggests it still needs one, or more capital, to get through Phase 2b. Keenova's screener is a different kind of bet: it wants to grow the diagnosed market. Bundling Peyronie's, ED and low-T into one intake conversation is the same approach DTC men's-health platforms use, now packaged for primary care and urology. More screening means more XIAFLEX referrals. For investors, SMSNA week shows that the next wave of men's sexual-health value is more likely to come from mechanism (durable or novel drugs) and diagnosis (screening tools) than from new ways to sell generic PDE5s. This week's other men's-health readouts include Futura's Eroxon Intense home-use data and LTR Pharma's U.S. nasal-spray launch (both covered separately).Dicot Pharma (Nasdaq First North: DICOT), a Swedish company, presented all three of its abstracts on LIB-01 as oral talks in the meeting's "Innovations in Sexual Medicine" session on Friday, October 9. LIB-01 is an oral, first-in-class ED candidate. Dicot says it works through "transcriptional modulation of the melanocortin system," not PDE5 inhibition. Its headline claim, in the title of one abstract, is "clinically meaningful improvements in erectile function and duration of action up to 8 weeks," based on Phase 2a results the company announced earlier this year. Johns Hopkins urologist Arthur Burnett presented the third talk, on a Phase 2b design adapted to the drug's "durable pharmacodynamic profile." Dicot will repeat the presentations in a public investor webcast on October 13 at 3:00 p.m. CET. The company also says LIB-01 is intended for premature ejaculation. Investors are sceptical: the trading data on Dicot's newsroom page shows the stock down about 73% over the past year.
Keenova Therapeutics (ticker MNK), the name Mallinckrodt adopted after its merger with Endo, has three talks. Two cover XIAFLEX (collagenase clostridium histolyticum), Keenova's FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment for Peyronie's disease, in men with ventral (downward) curvature. One is a subgroup analysis of a multicenter retrospective Phase 4 observational study, and the other is a literature review of real-world and Phase 4 outcomes. The third presents Keenova's Men's Sexual Health Screener, a brief tool developed with patient and clinician input to help doctors raise Peyronie's, ED and low testosterone in one conversation. Keenova's release cites an estimate that Peyronie's may affect as many as 1 in 10 U.S. men, with low diagnosis rates because men are reluctant to raise it. XIAFLEX carries a boxed warning for corporal rupture (penile fracture) and is available only through a REMS programme.
