On October 29, 2026, sleep-tech company Eight Sleep launched Menopause Mode for its temperature-regulating Pod. The feature is for women from perimenopause through postmenopause. According to Femtech Insider and T3, it cools or warms the user's side of the bed and lowers the temperature ahead of the hours when hot flashes are most common. It reacts to hot flashes as they happen and tracks trends to build personalized settings. A physical button on the Pod gives instant cooling without opening the app. The feature is in the iOS and Android apps and includes menopause-specific sleep insights, including how a user's patterns compare with others at the same stage.
Why It Matters
Menopause tech is moving from apps and supplements into **connected hardware the user already owns**, a pattern we've seen with [Oura's menopause work](/stories/oura-menopause-impact-scale-clinical) and other wearables. The timing helps Eight Sleep. U.S. women are struggling to fill [estradiol patch prescriptions](/stories/estradiol-patch-shortage-fda-action), so non-drug symptom management is getting more attention. For sexual-wellness brands the link is indirect but real: poor sleep and vasomotor symptoms reliably drive the low desire and fatigue that menopause-focused intimacy products target. Eight Sleep now has a large proprietary dataset on how menopausal women sleep, and it could license or publish that data.Eight Sleep says the feature is built on 57,000 nights of sleep from 450 peri- and post-menopausal women. The company says that dataset showed preferred sleep temperatures differ by about 5°F across hormonal life stages, that women on HRT prefer warmer temperatures, and that postmenopausal women average more than 1.5 hours less sleep per week than premenopausal women. Co-founder Alexandra Zatarain said: "our research showed the Pod can cut nighttime hot flashes by 56% on average." That figure is the company's own and has not been independently verified. Menopause Mode follows a Pregnancy Mode launched earlier this year under the company's Women's Sleep Initiative.
